Bethesda Southside

Inspired by the story found in John 5, this design reimagines one of Jesus' most powerful miracles through the lens of surf culture and one of our favorite home breaks—Southside Huntington Beach Pier.

In the original story, Jesus encounters a man at the Pool of Bethesda who had been unable to walk for many years. Surrounded by people searching for hope and healing, the man explains that he has no one to help him into the water.

Jesus responds with three simple commands:

"Get up. Pick up your bed. And walk."

For this Pocketbois drop, we flipped the scene.

Instead of the Pool of Bethesda, we're at Southside. A massive wave unloads near the pier as Jesus comes cruising in from the lineup. Spotting the struggling brahdah, He gives the command PB style:

"Brah, you like get betta? Get up! Grab your dakine bed and we go!"

The artwork serves as a reminder that no matter how long you've been stuck—physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually—Jesus still calls people forward. He still brings hope. He still restores. And He still changes lives.

Because sometimes all it takes is one encounter with Jesus to get back on your feet.

Get up. Grab your dakine bed. And we go.
